We first adopted the CBC App in 2022. Four years later, it has become one of the most reliable tools we use in the daily running of our school. What stands out for us is not just the features it offers but the way the app supports authentic, day-to-day school work in a practical and meaningful way.
One of the biggest changes we have experienced is in assessment management. Our teachers capture both formative and summative assessments through the app, and this gives us immediate visibility of how learners are progressing. Instead of waiting for end-of-term reports or flipping through stacks of progress books, we can see real-time performance across classes and subjects. This helps us spot gaps early, understand whether a strand was well taught, and make decisions that are grounded in clear data rather than guesswork.
The app has also made syllabus tracking easier. When we notice that a particular strand has weak results, we can quickly trace the issue back to teaching practice, the assessment itself or how the learning objective was covered. This level of clarity was much harder to achieve when everything was paper-based.
Incident reporting has become another strong part of our workflow. Whenever a child reports an illness or injury, it is recorded in the system along with the follow-up actions. This means we have a complete and traceable record, which has been appreciated during external checks from the education office. For us, this is more than compliance. It is about protecting children and ensuring that every incident is handled responsibly and within a transparent process.
Attendance tracking has also improved. With digital registers, we always know who is present and who is repeatedly missing class. In a large school, this matters. We can now pick up patterns early, speak to parents and address possible academic risks before they grow.
Another benefit has been long-term learner profiling. The CBC App stores several years of performance data, which has been especially helpful when guiding Junior Secondary pathway choices. We no longer depend on impressions or isolated exam results. We can look at multi-year trends and identify strengths in STEM, Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences using clear evidence.
Above all, reliability and support are what anchor our trust in the system. We have never lost data. Even when updates cause small delays, our records remain safe. And whenever we need help, the customer support team responds quickly. Over the years, we have suggested many improvements, and we have seen those ideas gradually reflected in the app’s updates.
For us at Ongata Royal Academy, the CBC App is not just another digital tool. It is an essential part of how we manage teaching, monitor learners and support decision-making across the school. It has made our work cleaner, faster and more organised, while keeping the learner at the centre of everything we do.
